Our Training Programs

The Accelerated Flight Attendant Program prepares you to walk into airline interviews ready to get hired, with hands-on training at JetBlue University. The Airline Customer Service & SABRE Training Add-On builds on that with ground-based skills like ticketing and reservations, so you have more than one way into the industry.

Yes! The SABRE course is designed as an add-on to the Accelerated Flight Attendant Program, adding one additional day of training at JetBlue University.

Attending our school isn’t required, but it dramatically increases your chances of getting hired. Airlines receive thousands of applications, and only 5% are offered interviews. Of those, only 5% are offered a position, pending the airline’s own in-house training. Airline recruiters seek out our graduates because we’ve been a reliable pipeline of hires since 1994.

The FAA requires airlines to train employees on their own equipment, so that part of training always happens with the airline. The catch is that 25 to 33% of new hires with no prior experience fail out of that in-house training and lose their job. Airline Academy graduates have a 99% in-house training success rate, because you walk in already prepared.

No school can guarantee a job after graduation. We can tell you we have an 86% confirmed placement rate, and we provide lifetime placement assistance to every graduate. Airlines hire Customer Service Agents starting at age 18. Flight attendant positions typically open at 19, and turning 20 or 21 opens up more airlines to apply with. There’s no maximum age requirement.

A high school diploma or GED is required before you attend the resident portion of training.

You’ll also need legal authorization to work in the country where you’ll be based, and the ability to travel without restrictions. Some airlines look for fluency in more than one language, which can open up more opportunities depending on the routes you’re interested in.

Airlines run a 10-year federal background check. A felony on your record, even older than 10 years, makes you ineligible unless it’s been expunged before you apply. A misdemeanor, DUI, or DWI conviction or probation within the last 10 years also makes you ineligible to apply, unless you’ve received a Deemed Rehabilitation (Canadian Waiver), which you can apply for 5 years after completing your sentence or probation. Height requirements vary by airline, generally falling between 5’0″ and 6’0″. Outside that range, you’ll have fewer airlines to choose from, though plenty of options remain.

Most airlines also have weight guidelines along with vision and hearing standards, since flight attendants need to safely and effectively perform their duties. Good physical shape matters too. It’s a physically demanding job.

Strong communication skills, a friendly and welcoming demeanor, the ability to stay calm under pressure, and a real sense of teamwork. These matter just as much as meeting the formal requirements.
